Lee is very optimistic. Shifts are always more fun when he is on shift. He always tries to engage staff and service users in activities whether this is getting up and moving for a dance session or playing guitar for a music group. He is always positive and will suggest alternative activities when service users are not interested in a set activity.

Laura has been supporting me when I had a person accident abroad. Laura has kept a regular contact with me whilst I was out of the UK and since being back to work. Laura has been very empathetic to my feelings and challenges both work related and personal. I am grateful for Laura’s time with listening and supporting me with health and well-being.

Sharon was planning to take a service user on holiday and unfortunately had to have surgery weeks prior. Sharon returned to work days prior to the surgery and was adamant that she was still going to see through the planned holiday with the service user, who had a brilliant time away.

Tinashe is the glue that keeps our team together and our shift running smoothly. No matter what happens during a shift, Tinashe is always smiling and making sure every member of his team is ok as well as the service users. If you’re having a bad day you can rely on Tinashe to cheer you up and make the shift a good one despite what gets thrown at you.

Helen has shown such a strength and resilience over the past few months during some challenging times on the ward. She appears to bounce from one task to the next making sure everyone else is alright before even thinking about herself. Helen deserves some credit for the way she handles a hard day like a boss and makes it seem easy.

Whether it’s dancing in the corridors, making everybody laugh or spending the afternoon engaging service users in a tournament of card games, Katie is always at the centre of fun on the ward. Her energy is missed whenever she isn’t on shift and everyone looks forward to spending time with her as her positivity is infectious. A sore loser though!

Without Uti the ward would fall apart. If you don’t know where something is, you ask Uti. If you are unsure of something, you ask Uti. She has worked incredibly hard to get to her position and never stops. We feel incredibly privileged to work with a person so dedicated to improving the lives of service users. Every ward needs a Uti.

Recently, Kirsty took a resident away on a short holiday. While away, the resident got ill and needed hospital treatment. Kirsty was alone on the holiday with the resident. Whilst spending time in the hospital, Kirsty never left the resident’s side. She stood awake through the night for 2 days before bringing the resident home, remaining calm and reassuring.

I was at a conference promoting our services when Dr. Phil Crowther came up to me to say that his daughter Milli had been on placement with Cygnet recently as an OT student. He was overwhelmed with the support that Ella Louise provided to Milli – he had never come across a more welcoming individual and organisation. He said it was exceptional.

My general nurse with no qualifications, that is Leanne! She supports me to ensure physical health monitoring is up-to-date, bloods and ECGs are completed as they should be. She is the best phlebotomist here managing to get blood from difficult patients. She supports the floor as well as completing her own work. Everyone needs a Leanne! Thank you.

Pete was one of the three staff members that pulled together when they were left without a chef on Sunday at a very short notice. They all pulled together and managed to feed all staff and patients and smiled the whole way. We are super proud of their quick thinking and amazing team work to avoid what could’ve been a disaster!
